IIT Kanpur - Admission 2024, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

IIT Kanpur is now inviting applications for the academic year 2024 for engineering courses. BTech admission at IIT Kanpur is based on JEE Advanced results. To be eligible for JEE Advanced, candidates must clear JEE Main. JEE Advanced will be conducted on May 26, followed by JoSAA counselling for IIT Kanpur admission in BTech courses. For admission in M.Des, CEED is accepted. CEED 2024 result is out on ceed.iitb.ac.in. UCEED 2024 result is out as well on uceed.iitb.ac.in. Candidates can check their results by visiting the official website and logging in using their registered email id and password.

The IIT Kanpur courses are offered in BTech, B.Sc, MTech, M.Des, M.Sc, MBA, and, PhD. The BTech course of the institute is the flagship course and its fee is Rs 8.38 lakh. Admission to the BTech course is based on the JEE Advanced exam followed by the JoSAA Counselling. Candidates with a rank of 200-250 are shortlisted for the course. Further, the IIT Kanpur fee structure ranges from Rs 44,150 to Rs 8.38 lakh.  

At present, the institute has 4,500 students in the UG courses and 2,000 students in the PG courses. For the PhD courses, 2,100 students are enrolled in the institute. Moreover, the IIT Kanpur faculty includes 47 visiting faculty members and 555 permanent faculty members. The institute published 2,021 research publications in 2022 and has filed 884 patents to date. The IIT Kanpur campus is one of India's biggest campuses. The campus's entire size is 1055 acres. The BTech programme is the flagship course. Merit Cum Means Scholarship

It's a merit-based scholarship with a financial requirement. Students receive complete tuition remission and a monthly pocket allowance of Rs 1,000 for the duration of the program. Beneficiaries must maintain a CPI of 6.5 or higher. If the CPI rises above 6.5, the pocket allowance is eliminated (but remains above 6.0). A student only needs to submit a copy of their parent's income tax return to be considered for the prize. This prize is available to students from other than the category (SC/ST) who have a parent's annual income of fewer than 4.5 lakhs.

Inspire Scholarship

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur receives an annual stipend of Rs 30,000 per semester (Rs 60,000 annually) and a Rs 20,000 research grant. This reward is open to students in the Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics departments who have an AIR of 10,000 or higher on the standard merit list. It is a merit-based award, and recipients must have a CPI of at least 6.0 to qualify. Students must submit an undertaking to the SSPC each semester to be eligible for any other scholarship.

Donor Scholarships are given to worthy and underprivileged students by the institute. There were a total of 115 scholarships given out.

Scholarship for a Free-Basic Mess

This scholarship is available to students who fall into the (SC/ST) category and have an annual household income of fewer than 4.5 lakhs. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur scholarship covers the cost of a basic food plan and a stipend.

IIT Kanpurstudents who display leadership in sports-related activities that lead to development, progress, and increased engagement in various sports will be awarded a maximum of 20 scholarships for Rs 1,000 per month for nine months. Furthermore, participation in Inter-IIT and other external sports events displays athletic excellence.

Academic Achievement Awards

The institute awards several academic excellence prizes to its students for their academic achievements. These awards are given to deserving Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur students who have achieved a CPI of 8.5 or better in the previous academic year.
